It’s clear that so many industry professionals are either missing vital personal branding. Even worse, some have a website but have paid an extortionate amount of money for a basic website. Using this guide I’ll show you how to launch your own site for £3.00 a month using Bluehost!

There are lots of platforms that you can use to do a ‘quick fix’ site. Something that has the basic resemblance to a site about you or your radio show, but does the bare minimum in terms of functionality. Websites like Wix, WordPress.com, and Squarespace are prime examples. These give you the ability to create the basics but offer little growth for the future. If you host a presenting training seminar, you won’t be able to add a full checkout feature to the site for free. I’m going to show you how you can easily create a site, and make sure it’s future proof. There are lots of platforms that you can use to do a 'quick fix' site. Hosting with Bluehost

One of the problems with the above sites is that you are renting space on their server. This means they have full control of the site, and if they went bust tomorrow your site is gone. They also set the cost to add plugins or additional features on the site, because it takes up more server space.

I use a hosting service called Bluehost. They’ll allow you to create a site, get a free domain name, and then have up to 100mb of storage for the emails you create using that domain. They have larger plans too, depending on what you need. I use their plus service, which gives you unlimited sites and unlimited storage. I’ve also sorted a deal with them. Normally their basic service is about £6.00 a month, but using this link you’ll only have to pay £3.00.One of the problems with the above sites is that you are renting space on their server. WordPress Engine

Although I did say that WordPress.com was a quick fix site, there is a way to harness the same power. I’m not too sure the history behind it, but did you know there are WordPress.com and WordPress.org? You can actually use the power of WordPress without being tied into paying to host it on their servers.

WordPress is one of the most popular platforms for running a site. This is down to its customisation ability and the sheer number of possibilities for plugins and design. This is also what I use to run my site. Using Bluehost you can easily install the engine onto your server. If for whatever reason you feel you’re losing touch with what I’m talking about, that’s fine. I had no clue either when I created my site. Bluehost has a fantastic customer service who can help you along the way.Wordpress is one of the most popular platforms for running a site. Themes

One thing that sets hosting your own WordPress site apart from creating a Wix site, is the themes. With quick fix sites, you’ll often get a handful of free themes and the rest will cost you. Even then, there’s only X-amount of pro themes to choose from. Using sites like ThemeForest and Creative Market you can find just about anything in terms of design for your site.

If you’ve got something specific in mind, you can also reach out to an outside design company to do a custom theme, but be cautious that this could take you over the original budget by quite a bit!One thing that sets hosting your own WordPress site apart from creating a Wix site, is the themes. Plugins

Let’s say you want your site to do something specific. For example, if you’re a radio presenter and you run your own online radio station, you might want a plugin to play your station on your site. WordPress has literally millions of plugins that do all sorts of things. Most are free, some have extra features for a price, and some will cost you money.

In my experience, 9/10 when I need a plugin it’s completely free. If I can’t find what I’m looking for I will often turn to CodeCanyon to see if someone has designed what I’m looking for.Wordpress has literally millions of plugins that do all sorts of things. Need A Guide?

If you’re struggling with the tech side of it all, that’s fine. At fir,st there’s a lot of jargon to learn. Bluehost have actually written a guide to get you started, and you can then often find the answer you need on various forums or YouTube videos. You can find the Bluehost guide here.
